Welcome to Musikgarten of Lexington! We are pleased that you are considering a music education for your family. Research has shown that we are all born with an aptitude for music, but that aptitude diminishes if it is not actively nurtured between the ages of birth and nine.
The group Musikgarten classes offered at Musikgarten of Lexington are designed to nurture the child’s music aptitude by engaging children and their families in singing and movement activities which help attune the ear, refine the voice, and develop a rhythmic body through which music can be expressed. Additionally, instrumental activities are part of the program, ranging from playing simple rhythm instruments such as sticks and drums for babies and toddlers to playing piano, guitar, or recorder, for older children. The overall goal of Musikgarten of Lexington is to build a life-long love of music, and to foster the overall whole-body development of the child.
Musikgarten is the only program that offers 12 curricula for newborns through group instrumental instruction. It is based on a keen understanding of how children learn, in both a general sense and, specifically, how they learn music.
In addition to group Musikgarten classes for children from birth through age 12, Musikgarten of Lexington also offers private lessons for children and adults on over 20 different instruments. We have over 20 private lesson instructors for piano, voice, guitar, strings, brass, woodwinds, and percussion. In order to accomodate any schedule, lessons are offered in 30-, 45-, and 60-minute sessions and are available mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends at our studio or your location.
Musikgarten of Lexington is Kentucky's largest, longest - running Musikgarten studio. We are Kentucky’s most nationally award-winning Musikgarten program! Studio Director/Owner Jennifer Tutt won the Teacher Achievement Award (a once-in-a-lifetime award) the first year it was awarded in 2004, and our school has won the Exemplary Program Award every year since its inception (one of only 5 studios in the U.S. with that distinction).
As you familiarize yourself with our class offerings and learn more about Musikgarten of Lexington, we look forward to answering your questions and welcoming your family into our music studio.
